Justice Stolen: My Granddaughter, Trafficked By The System

Writer: Christina LasterChristina Laster

I am a grandmother. A mother. A woman who has lived long enough to know that justice in this country has never been what it proclaims to be. And I am here to tell you—what is happening to my granddaughter, Iris Crum, and daughter Khaila Wilks Czereda is not right, just, or fair. It is a betrayal of all these things.

Case Summary & Update: The Fight for Khaila and Iris Crum

This case revolves around Khaila Wilks, a devoted mother fighting to protect her daughter, Iris Crum, from an abusive family, and the legal system’s failure to recognize the truth. Despite her efforts to keep Iris safe, Khaila is now facing extradition based on fraudulent charges, a process that prioritizes bureaucracy over justice and refuses to acknowledge the real danger Iris faces.

Key Facts:

Prior to Anthony’s death, Khaila had been fighting for Iris’s safety. Iris was living with her father, Anthony Crum, in a house controlled by Anthony’s father, Dale Crum. While there, Iris suffered abuse, and Dale knowingly allowed it to happen, choosing to look the other way.

On January 12th, Iris was on the back of Anthony’s motorcycle when he crashed into an SUV and died. Iris was injured in the accident, but instead of being released to her mother, Dale took her from the hospital without Khaila’s knowledge or consent.

Dale used his influence to cut Khaila out of her daughter’s life after Anthony’s death, despite his history of enabling abuse.

Now, the system is punishing Khaila for trying to protect her daughter. She has been falsely charged in the demanding state, but extradition laws prevent the asylum state from questioning the fraudulent basis of these charges.

Fraud upon the court has been committed, yet legal precedent (Michigan v. Doran, 1978) offers a limited scope for the asylum state from stopping the extradition because the system prioritizes procedure over truth.

A writ of habeas corpus is being filed to prevent Khaila from being unlawfully extradited, but courts have refused to acknowledge the overwhelming evidence of fraud.

Current Situation:

If the extradition moves forward, Khaila will be forced to fight this legal battle in a state that has already shown it will not protect her or Iris.

Iris faces the risk of permanent separation from her mother and could stay in the care of the very people who allowed her to be abused.

ACTS OF STATE SPONSORED VIOLENCE AND EVIL.

I am speaking into the void, because my granddaughter has been ripped away from the arms of the only people who truly love and protect her. Not because my daughter, Khaila, is unfit. Not because she did anything wrong. But because she dared to stand up and fight to keep her child safe from abuse. And just like they’ve done to many mothers like her, the system is punishing her for doing what they failed to do under their mandate.

They tell us to trust the process, but we know better. We’ve seen the double standard. Parallel justice systems with multiple lanes. We’ve seen how the law bends and breaks for some, but crushes US under its weight. The truth doesn’t matter when the system was never built to protect us. And now, that same system is treating my daughter like a criminal—tearing her away from her child, from her home, from her right to be a mother—all in the name of paperwork and procedure. All while rejecting substantial evidence of abuse.

HYPOCRISY! But we refuse to stay silent while another Black family is torn apart by a legal system that was never meant to serve us. We will fight. We will expose this injustice. And we will not stop until Khaila and Iris are liberated from vile and corrupt entities.

My granddaughter, Iris, is just a little girl who has already been through way too much for an 8 year old child. She should not have to lose her mother too. Especially, NOT to a crime that never happened, NOT because of the Crum Family’s lies, and NOT from fraud upon the courts that the system hasn't been willing to confront.

AND YET, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT’S HAPPENING.

The System is Failing My Family

This is not about justice. This is about a system that refuses to look past its own rules, bias, and prejudices, to do the right thing. Even when those rules allow innocent people to be destroyed and aides in the exploitation and abuse of children.

Iris has been moved around, hidden by the Crum family at the prompting of his attorney. I haven't seen my granddaughter in over a year. Meanwhile, Khaila is being fraudulently charged with crimes based on falsehoods—fabrications so blatant that they should have collapsed under the weight of their own lies. But the courts don’t care about these things. They ignore pertinent evidence that delegitimizes their charges.

LET THAT SINK IN.

States can manufacture cases against you. Lie. Manipulate. Falsify evidence. And as long as they sign the right documents, you can lose your child, life and liberty. No questions asked! They won’t ask if my granddaughter is being stolen away under fraudulent pretenses because they're complicit.

No. They only ask if the paperwork is in order. If the boxes are checked. If the process has been followed.

There has been no departure in this nation from Partus Sequitur Ventrem which codified and defined the status of enslaved children. Sealing the fate of our babies into a system of hereditary racial slavery depended on the understanding that enslaved women’s reproductive rights would be bound to the institution of chattel slavery.

THIS IS NOT JUSTICE. THIS IS ENACTMENT OF NEO SLAVE CODES, LEGALIZED KIDNAPPING.

A Legal Kidnapping

The Extradition Clause of the U.S. Constitution and 18 U.S.C. § 3182 were meant to ensure fugitives couldn’t escape justice. But what happens when justice is the thing being escaped? What happens when extradition is used as a weapon, a way to punish the innocent by dragging them across state lines into a legal battlefield they were never meant to fight?

THAT'S SYSTEM INITIATED TRAFFICKING!

Khaila is not a fugitive and Iris has never been safe with the Crum family who have documented ties to the KKK.

Khaila is a mother. A woman fighting for her child. And yet, she is being treated like a criminal—forced to leave behind everything, to go somewhere where the truth doesn’t matter, to be swallowed whole by a system that protects fraud instead of exposing it.

THE FREQUENCY OF WRONG DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT.

This is not how justice is supposed to work.

Where is the Accountability?

If fraud upon the court is a crime, why does the legal system ignore it? If no one in the asylum state will stop an unjust extradition, who will?

The courts have made it clear: they won’t help us. The legal system is adversarial to the truth and content to have my daughter disappear buried under misrepresentation of facts, fraud upon the courts, and false charges

And what happens to Iris?

She will be left without a mother. Without the protection she deserves. Without the truth.

And for what? To protect their fraudulent process? To pretend that justice is being served when the exact opposite is happening?

We Demand Change. We Demand Justice.

This cannot continue. We will not let this continue.

We demand ALL fraud upon the court and charges be investigated and no extradition takes place.

To anyone reading this, I ask: Would you be silent if this were your daughter? If this were your granddaughter? If the courts came to take away everything you love, not because of guilt, but because of bias and legal indifference?

If this system can take Khaila today, it can take your loved ones tomorrow.

It’s time to fight back.

I will not be silent. I will not stop until my daughter is free. Until my granddaughter is with her family. Until the system that allowed this to happen is fixed.

Because this is not justice. THIS IS THE SYSTEM COMMITTING CRIMES.

WILL YOU HELP?

Public support is crucial. Advocacy, legal action, and community pressure can help stop this miscarriage of justice and bring national attention to how the system is failing this Black mother and child.

This is not just a legal battle—this is a fight for Iris’s safety and for Khaila’s right to protect her daughter. We know the double standard when it comes to the justice system and Black families. We must stand up, speak out, and demand justice before it’s too late.
