UPDATE: On Feb 28, Khaila was taken into custody on a Tennessee warrant after the Crum family’s attorney pushed the prosecutor to reopen the case. She is currently being held in San Diego, awaiting extradition to Tennessee. Instead of protecting Khaila and Iris, the state continues to criminalize Black mothers. Neither the courts or the custodial family knows the whereabouts or medical condition of Iris.
